Off-peak train times vary by operator, route and service, and may also be origin/destination specific. Travel restrictions will usually apply to both outward and return journeys, setting a time boundary to avoid the morning and/or evening peak travel periods.*
CrossCountry follow a more simplified approach to off-peak ticket restrictions for use on our services. In general, if travelling on CrossCountry before 09.30 ⁺, customers will likely need an ‘Anytime’ ticket to complete their journey. Tickets may also be restricted between 15:30 and 18:15 ⁺ in the evening. Nevertheless, there are many off-peak tickets which do permit travel on CrossCountry services during these times; customers are therefore advised to check full details of the specific ticket restrictions before travelling.
Customers may come across different types of Off-Peak tickets. Some of the more common ones are listed below:
Off-Peak -> Generally includes morning travel restrictions.
Off-Peak Day -> Generally includes morning and evening travel restrictions.
Super Off-Peak -> Generally includes more restrictive morning travel conditions, and possibly evening restrictions too.
