Newcastle has exemplary public transport services. You may wish to choose the Metro services, connecting the city centre with the airport and suburbs. The buses in the city also boast an excellent service and are a cheap and convenient choice. However, should you prefer to travel by cab, a taxi rank is conveniently located adjacent to the station.
Newcastle is an excellent choice if you are looking to shop until you drop: with several superb shopping malls where you can find a mix of high street favourites and local independent shops. Newcastle’s intu Eldon square is one of the largest shopping malls and offers access to top international brands. It is rivalled only by intu Metrocentre, just a short bus ride from the centre, which is the largest shopping mall in Europe, with every brand you could possibly dream of. The original Fenwick department store is also found in the city centre, where you can find some of the country’s most sought-after brands. If it’s boutique designers and exclusive names you’re after, Grainger Town might be worth a visit, with its flagship Vivienne Westwood boutique amongst others.
Newcastle is a vibrant modern city, which offers much to visitors when it comes to cultural experiences. The beautiful Theatre Royal is the regional home of the Royal Shakespeare company, but has a varied program of everything from touring West End musicals to world-class drama. For something a little more light-hearted, The Stand Comedy Club is one of the best in the UK with a top-notch line up, and even better food!
